Description

Miralia alternans is a snake in the family Homalopsidae.

The scientific name of the species was first suggested by Adolph Reuss in 1834. Originally, the scientific name Brachyorrhos alternans was used. For a long time, the snake was included in the genus Enhydris, which is why this name is used in literature. The species was assigned to the genus Miralia by John Edward Gray in 1842 and is today the only representative of this monotypic group.
